About Medical Pedicure

What is a medical pedicure, and how is it different from a salon pedicure?

A medical pedicure is cosmetic foot care performed with podology tools and hospital-grade hygiene. Instead of soaking your feet in a basin, the specialist works on dry skin with sterile e-files, so thick nails, calluses and cracked heels can be treated precisely.

The focus is on comfort and healthy-looking feet rather than polish. Polish is optional, and many clients skip it. More in our guide: what is a medical pedicure.

What is the difference between the Wellness Pedicure and the Medi Pedicure?

The Wellness Pedicure ($140, about 60 minutes) is a maintenance visit: nail trimming and shaping, cuticle care and light exfoliation.

The Medi Pedicure (from $160, 60–90 minutes) is for thick nails, deep calluses, corns and cracked heels. More complex feet add $30–50 or $50–75, and your specialist confirms the price with you before starting. Every service is on our price list.

Why don’t you use water?

Soaking softens and swells the skin, which hides how much callus really needs to come off, and shared basins are a hygiene risk. Dry skin shows its true structure, so the specialist removes exactly what needs removing and never over-thins healthy tissue. Results typically hold 4–8 weeks. More on the dry pedicure technique.

Your Visit

What happens during the appointment?

You stay seated the whole time, and there are three steps:

1. Assessment. The specialist checks your skin, nails and pressure areas and asks about anything we should know, such as diabetes, blood thinners or recent changes.

2. E-file work. Nails are trimmed and thinned, and calluses are reduced in thin layers. No blades are used at any point.

3. Finishing. A protective cream or foam, plus advice on footwear and home care.

How long does it take?

A Wellness Pedicure takes about 60 minutes, a Medi Pedicure 60–90 minutes, and cracked-heel restoration about 45–60 minutes. One specialist works with you from start to finish.

Does it hurt?

It should not. We work only on dead, non-living tissue, using e-files with a cooling spray. Most clients feel relief from pressure right away. After deep callus work, the area can feel mildly sore.

How should I prepare for my visit?

Please remove any gel polish before your appointment. If you need it removed at the studio, gel removal is available for an additional charge.

Bring open-back or slip-on shoes for after the session and a list of any foot medications or recent podiatrist notes. You do not need an insurance card.

How often should I come?

Most clients come every 4–8 weeks for maintenance, and diabetic clients usually every 6–8 weeks. Deeply cracked heels may need 2–3 sessions, combined with hydration at home.

Can I book for a parent or partner?

Yes. Use their name and email in Acuity so appointment reminders go to them, and note diabetes or any condition we should know about in the booking field.

Booking, Payment & Policies

How do I book an appointment?

Online, 24/7: choose your specialist and time on our booking page. You can also call us at +1 (240) 935-7995. Most appointments are available within 1–2 weeks, and same-day openings appear live in Acuity.

Do you accept walk-ins?

We work by appointment only, so every client gets a prepared sterile setup and the full time slot.

Do I need to pay in advance?

No. There is no prepayment. Payment is due in full at the end of your visit.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. We do not accept insurance.

Does insurance cover a medical pedicure?

No. Our services are cosmetic foot care, which insurance does not cover, so they are paid out of pocket.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. You can reschedule anytime in Acuity, no phone call needed. Same-day no-shows incur a 50% fee, in fairness to other clients.

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your appointment may need to be shortened or rescheduled.

Safety & Health

How do you sterilize your tools?

All multi-use instruments are processed in a Class B autoclave and kept in sealed sterile pouches that are opened in front of you. We use single-use disposables wherever possible.

Is it safe if I have diabetes or take blood thinners?

For routine foot care, yes. The waterless, blade-free technique removes the main risks of salon pedicures, and tissue is removed in thin, controlled layers. Mention diabetes or blood thinners when booking so the specialist adapts the work. More on our diabetic pedicure.

If you have an open wound, signs of infection or new numbness, see your physician or podiatrist first.

Can you treat toenail fungus or ingrown toenails?

We provide cosmetic care, not medical treatment. For fungal-looking nails we safely reduce and clean the affected nail, which improves its appearance and helps topical anti-fungal products reach the nail bed; it is not a cure (toenail fungus solution). For ingrown and curved nails we offer non-surgical toenail braces, from $70. If you are wondering whether a pedicure is safe with an ingrown toe, see this guide.

For diagnosis or prescription treatment, please see a licensed podiatrist or physician.

When should I see a podiatrist instead?

Right away if you have an open wound or ulcer, signs of infection (redness, warmth, pus, fever), a foot that suddenly changed shape or color, or new numbness. If we notice anything concerning during a visit, we tell you directly. See also: podiatrist or medical pedicure?
